Screen Casting
One of the most useful emerging technologies for educational use is screen casting. Screen casting allows a user to demonstrate a task on a computer screen and record it to create a self made tutorial. By using tools, such as Jing (this tool will be covered under Web 2.0), an educator can capture, narrate, and navigate on their computer and then post it online or in a folder for students to use. Students then can look at the video if they are stuck and they are at home or the teacher cannot answer them right away.

You Tube
You Tube has evolved from a video upload community that sole purpose was entertainment, to one that has a great variety of uses. In the classroom many students can learn a concept from visually seeing it demonstrated. Many different posters of You Tube have uploaded videos that can help students learn information in and out of the classroom. I rely heavily on You Tube for my Economics class because there are specific channels for information that is covered in class.
Teacher Tube
Teacher Tube is an online community for educators that are set up and functions just like the You Tube. The videos uploaded and linked in this community are supposedly done by educators to help each other with information and ideas for lesson plans. I personally have found a great deal of videos to use in the classroom from this website that have both been informational and educational.
Podcasts
Podcasts are recordings of ideas, opinions, or information that are uploaded and formatted into audio file (just like music) for others to download and listen to. Just like many of the above video sites appeal to a visual learner, podcasts can fulfill the educational needs of auditory learners. By creating a podcast and posting it online an educator can give the students a place to hear the directions of an idea or project at their own pace. Many educators and major influential people in education post podcasts, so it allows another avenue for students to achieve the knowledge that they are looking for.
